Tips for Hurricane Preparedness
-Hurricane season is May through November
-Evacuate if authorities order you to do so
-Secure/Brace external doors and close internal doors
-Stay indoors away from windows with curtains and blinds closed
-Take refuge in a small interior room or hall with no windows on the lowest level of your house
-Beware of any lulls which may mean the eye of the hurricane is passing over. Winds will pick back up
-Gather your important documents together and keep with you or photograph them and upload to the cloud
-Call your insurance agent before hurricane season starts to make sure you are properly covered. Homeowners insurance does not typically cover flooding. A separate flood policy may be needed.
